Students contribute money and effort to charities Ringing doorbells, making toys, donating time, money, and old clothes-these were the ways El- ston students worked for charity. The National Honor Society sponsored the clothing drive. For two weeks homerooms accumulated old clothes which were sent to depressed areas of the United States. Honor Society was also in charge of raising money for Channel 11, Chicago's educational tele- vision station. Fashionettes utilized their sewing talents by making dolls to send to the Michigan City Therapy Center. The Elston Squeeze was the school's all-out effort for charity. Students dug deep and contributed over one thousand dollars to be divided among seven charities. Homeroom competition was generated by a trophy awarded to the sponsor group giving the most money.
