Mary Ann Rolston, Terry Smith. Bali Hai, your special island. Bali Hai may whisper, on the wind, on the sea: 'Here am I, your special island. Come to me, come to me.' Bali Hai, the magical dream-island of South Pacific, was for a night transplanted to Elston's 1962 prom. Couples entered past a waterfall, saw island scenes on the wall and a grass hut on the Hoorg a volcano loomed menacingly near the danc- ers. Walking around carrying refreshments were young black- haired Polynesians in sarongs and mu-mu's Cusually reliable sources state that these islanders were in reality ordinary sophomoresj. juniors and seniors danced around the palm trees until the grand march, then left for post-prom parties.
