Busy hands of Terry Smith, Martha Capp, Bert Henry, Lissa Hart, Sharon Yagelski, and Gail Anderson paint the decorations for the side walls. Junior class president, Tom Dolembo, gathers reeds to make the island hut. 12 How can one create a South Seas island from crepe paper, papier mache, wire, canvas, wood, straw, glue, nails, paint, and muscle-power? This was the problem confronting the members of the class of '63 when they made Bali Hai their prom themeg they supplied the answer-imagination. For a total of 8,856 hours the juniors worked to make their imagination come alive. These hours were spent earn- ing money for materials in junior concessions, planning decorations in steering committee meetings, gathering mater- ials for and constructing the decorations. As june 1 ap- proached, juniors demonstrated their creativity by working on the decorations. The gratifying moment came when, dressed in formals and tuxedoes, they saw anew what they had worked on in bluejeans.
