3 3 ambitious Elston students FILLING UP shelves at Harvey Krentz Bakery with freshly baked rolls and bread is part of the pleasant work done by Ronald Newton after school and on Saturdays. THE NINIBLE FINGERS of Patricia Lambert turn out excellent tailoring and alterations at What do lilston's students do in their spare mo- ments? Many of them work ambitiously in a great variety of jobs ranging from organ playing and meat cutting to pizza making and shoe shining. Others are engaged on week ends. after school, and at night as gas-station attendants, baby sitters, car hops, soda jerks, farm workers, receptionists, music teachers, sales clerks, waitresses, paper boys, jani- tors. stock boys. ushers, nurses aides, editors, and even dishwashers. Of the 1044 students that participated in this survey, 373 have part-time jobs and carry a full load of school work as well. The majority of stu- dents work from 11 to 20 hours per week, while many of them work up to 30 hours weekly. Those that go to school part time are able to work up to 40 hours or more. With school life as busy as it is, most of the students work only on week ends, but PART-TIME WORK in the meat department Andrus Dry Cleaning where Pat works on week of Sunshine Food Mart enables Allie Wazni ends, to acquire skills as a butcher. ku 'lr X ,ts , ff: I 5 , -J
