With a cheery smile, and a wave of the hand, He has wandered into an unknown land And left us dreaming how very fair It needs must be, since he lingers there. And you-oh, you, who the wildest yearn For and old-time step, and the glad return, Think of him faring on, as dear In the love of There as the love of Here Think of him still as the same. I say, He is not dead — he is just away.” James Whitcomb Riley 6ast£e 4 tdnea 7(Se4 6-22-67 to 2-24-84 Charles was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Turner. Through high school Charles was active in baseball, basketball, band, pep band, E-Team, track, and was a Fall Festival Candidate. t ?S3-X4 (?ocuttlij )euU4 t ‘Pre eat ... Throughout the 1983-84 school year, there have been a number of events that have taken place. A few of these events have involved someone or some place close to us. Other events have influenced people world wide. There have been some changes in our quiet community. We lost a school mate and friend, Charles Webb. We will miss him dearly. Cable Television was distributed throughout Elsberry, and the school has it’s own channel, LCR2 Channel 18. Along with cable, EHS equipped a computer room, consisting of five computers. Time magazine voted the computer as the “man” of the year. The track team met their goals by attaining Conference- and District Champs. Also, there were activities being performed in other parts of the world. Two satellites were lost in space, and Sally Ride was the first woman astronaut. The Super-Bowl was won by the Los Angeles Raiders. In London, the Lebanonese took over the embassy. Pcwt cuut Closer to home, the new and most popular video and song was Thriller.” The song that hit the pop charts was “Against All Odds.” Also, America’s sweethearts, Joanie and Chachi got married. 4 9 Secretary Rose Martin Mary Stewart Bowles President Susan Sutherlin Treasurer Mike Bange Rosetta York Brinkman Vice-President Angie Ross Karen Arcand Renee Bufford 6 Michael Collins Chad Cox Kim DeGeare Arthur Coleman Todd Collins Shirley Davis Charlie Crumes ( %adccatc M Jennifer Mayes Janette Wallace VALEDICTORIAN Class Speaker WAL-MART SCHOLARSHIP Delta Kappa Gamma - Beta Alpha Chapter Jesse Black English Award Outstanding Senior Dr. Gary Evans SALUTATORIAN DAVID REID GALLOWAY SCHOLARSHIP ROTC SCHOLARSHIP Jeff Stone Compliments of PHILLIPS ELECTRIC CUUtO t Mike Bange MFA SCHOLARSHIP Arthur Coleman KIRK AND GRACE McGEE SCHOLARSHIP Jeff Stone NURSING SCHOLARSHIP Cindy Wilkinson Kim Remmert Kelly Ogden 9 Jean Hammack Karie Hare Sherri Henderson Ben Henke Mark Herring Michael Lagemann 10 Tammy Lilley Neisha Livengood James McGlaughlin Karla Lindsey Judy Livesay Tom Miller Derek Linson Jennifer Mayes Steve North 11 Judy Livesay PEO Award Special Thanks to Mrs. Boley and Mr. Lake James McGlaughlin Shelter Insurance Scholarships Josie Patton. A young enthusiastic team, they layed a successful foundation on which to build a strong, competitive pro- gram in the years to come. We felt that we would have a good team this year, so we were ready for the season to start. After the Clopton loss we were down, but that made us work hard and it paid off. The next game we played was against Silex and we won 10-0. We were really up for our next game against Clopton. When game time came we were ready, we took an early lead and things were going well until the 9th inning, when Clopton took over, they won by a score of 8-4, it was a tough loss, but again we worked hard, because we wanted to post 4-2 record at the end of the season. We worked hard enough to achieve it,” comments Coach Wheeler. 71 Left to Right, FIRST ROW: Rose Martin, Joe Mackey, Eddie Watts, Jeff Allen, Shirley Davis.
