Advisor L A Dr. Howell Presenting Kirk and Grace McGee 1920 A ward Scholarship to Kirk McGee Alice Stamper Kirk McGee Day was proclaimed Wednesday, March 14. 1981 by the Lincoln County R-ll School Board of Education. Mr. McGee was a 1910 graduate of EHS. He has established a scholarship fund in his name. The first year the fund will amount to $500. The amount each year will be based on the amount of interest that has been earned. The Home Economics class, under Mrs. Lake’s instruction, prepared a luncheon honoring Mr. McGee. Invita- tions were sent to nine of his classmates to attend the luncheon, but only one classmate. Mrs. Anna Branch Libby, was able to attend. Other guests included friends, relatives, board members Ro- semary Davis, Leslie Whiteside, and David Hausgen. along with Jim Mayes. Principal, and Dr. Jim Howell. Superinten- dent. Entertainment for the luncheon was presented by the music department under the direction of Mr. Gene Ditch. Performing were two vocal groups, a clarinet quintet, and Debbie McGlaughlin. with a tuba solo. After the luncheon, Dr. Howell presented Mr. McGee with a 1910 trophy. This trophy was presented to his class 61 years ago. Later in the afternoon Mr. McGee spoke to two different high school classes. His speech was a tribute to the blessing of rural living, to hard work, and to the strength of the business communi- ty in America. Mr. McGee contributed several items to the EHS library. The items included a book on Washington. D. C. presented to Mr. McGee by his U. S. Congressman in Ohio, a book with his pictures and activities covering his 40 years with Proctor and Gamble, and various certificates of recognition. Mr. McGee distinguished himself in the business world. He was employed by Proctor and Gamble for over 40 years. He has exhibited those time honored values that still work. Values such as honesty, loyalty, hard work, dedication, and a desire to do one’s best. 1 1981-1982 1nwar Summer o romance o Jbear Jd)iary, Ok is kas keen an excitiny year! besides ike tkinys tkat kappened around CMS, we kave keen a fleeted by many national and world event A. One of their main projects was raising money to support an under privileged child through the Christian Children's Fund. To earn this money. the FHA members baked and sold giant chocolate chip and M£M cookies. They made $321.00 total on four sales. Food and clothing will be purchased for the child with this money. Christmas for FHA members was a special time. The club collected food, clothing, and toys. They distributed them to some of the less fortunate families in the area. The Mother Daughter Banquet was also very special this year. Natalie Welsh talked to the group about self-defense. In May. the club made May Baskets for both of the nursing homes. Later that month Dana Momphard. Loretta Laird. Jane Childress and Mrs. Lake decorated the Health Care Center for Mother's Day. IX) Spirit -At cJ4S Student Council sponsored Spirit Week February 16-19. The week began on Tuesday when everyone was encouraged to wear their craziest socks and Sock it to the Warriors''. Wednesday was sweat day. The theme for that day was ”Make the Warriors Sweat it Outl Hat and hush day was next. All girls were issued hush buttons and were discouraged from talking to guys. If a girl did speak to a guy. she was made to give him her hush button. The guy with the most hush buttons at the end of the day was named Mr. Irresistible”. The year’s irresis- tible male was Tim Hurley, senior. Friday was the big day. Everyone wore as much red as possible to ”Make the Warriors See Red”. A pep rally was held to get the spirit going for that night’s basketball game. A tug-a-war competition was held between the classes with the juniors coming up victorious. The cheer- leaders got the momentum rolling by leading various cheers. The finale was a punk rock routine performed, in costume, by the pom pon girls. All of the classes competed against each other during Spirit Week to see which class had the most spirit. Points were awarded for participa- tion through the entire week. This year s sophomore class displayed the most spirit. Ill 3 ear J£)iary, 17he teacher A and administrators a t are realty a Special hunch of people.
