Mayes entered the Lincoln County R-II School District System, his time and efforts have been devoted to the Im- provement of his fellow man and himself. Mr. Mayes, who will no longer be a member of the high school faculty, will serve as prin- cipal of the Clarence Cannon School next fall. While serving as a member of the high school faculty, Mr. Mayes was an excellent teacher of American history, contemporary issues, sociology, American government, and economics, and a friend to all students. We of the yearbook staff wish to dedicate our yearbook to him, Mr. James L. The invocation, given by the Rev. Lewis Cornwell, was followed by the chorus' The Halls of Ivy and No Man Is An Island. Shelley Briscoe, class salutatorian, delivered the graduation address; and Mr. James Richards awarded the diplomas to the graduating class. The benediction was given following the award and scholarship presentations.
