Chapel offers food for soul College Chapel, held each Thursday, offers fellowship for the Elon community. Though the college is related to the Unit- ed Church of Christ, chapel ser- vices are ecumenical, meaning religious differences are valued. Chaplain Richard McBride leads the services, with other members of the college commu- nity providing prayers and mu- sic. Everyone is invited, McBride said. Especially those who are looking for spiritual wholeness alongside social and academic success.

THURSDAYS ARE SPECIAL Weekly Coffee is more than free food Free coffee every Thursday morning — what a deal! But Col- lege Coffee, created by President J. Fred Young about 5 years ago, provides more than refreshment. According to Director of Develop- ment Tim McDowell, it also pro- vides Elon students, faculty and staff a chance to socialize informal- ly outside the classroom and the office. College Coffee also provides campus groups an opportunity to showcase programs such as Study Abroad and CROP Walk. Candidates for campus, local and state offices find Coffee is a great place to campaign. The Coffee is held each Thurs- day at 9:30 during a one-hour break in the class schedule. 16 A Way of Life

Life with the UNITS Parents Weekend: for two days each fall, the campus springs to life as parents from near and far descend. During the weekend, parents meet with faculty advisors to check their son or daughter ' s progress. They also are treated to a picnic, a talent show, and a football game. For students, Parents Weekend means cleaning their rooms so maybe they ' ll be treated to din- ner off campus or a shopping trip to the outlets. At left, parents get a chance to visit their son over a box lunch on the patio. The Elon Jazzmen, winners of the Talent Show, dazzled the audience and the judges. Resting in the shade was a nice break. 18a Way of Life
