ORIENTATION New Students move in, settle down and sign up Orientation means adjusting to a new en- vironment or situation. Elon ' s 900 new stu- dents had four days to do just that. On Au- gust 30, the campus came to life as new students and their parents arrived from near and far. Moving mountains of belongings was the major focus that day, but students and par- ents took time out to attend meetings. After parents said farewell, students got down to business — unpacking, taking placement tests, meeting advisors and signing up for classes, and making new fhends. MAJOR APPLIANCES ...A fresh- man moving onto West Campus believes in moving the most impor- tant things first. LESSON ONE: LINE UP . . . Stu- dents who arrived at peak times found they had to wait in line to re- ceive keys to their rooms. FIRST STOP: SIGN IN . . . Resi- dent Assistants and Orientation Counselors (right) were on hand tor welcoming new students and pass- ing out room keys. 10 A Way of Life

HOMECOMING 1987 Running back Dwayne Clark took the homecoming theme to heart, as he treated football fans to his own style of celebration. Clark and his team- mates had reason to celebrate when Elon defeated Lenoir-Rhyne 42-24. Students and alumni danced to the tunes of Top Secret at the Student Union Board ' s Homecoming Dance in Jordan Gym. Students found different ways to keep warm and amuse themselves during the chilly afternoon game. 12 AWay of Life
