. . . The Best of Eton The routine of the 1984-85 year had a flair all its own. Even the monotonous day-to-day events became rituals by the end of the year. The things we took for granted will never be exper- ienced after graduation: The long nights spent as all- nighters studying for a test or writing a paper; the Hardee ' s runs at all hours of the morning for iced tea and a biscuit; a trip to the Pantry for some ciga- rettes, beer, or perhaps a bar of candy and a big gulp; an intra- mural game in the middle of a busy afternoon to add some fun and fitness; ordering Dominos Pizza and getting it free after 30 minutes; battling for a parking space in one of Elon ' s many crowded parking lots; watching the soap opera Rituals every afternoon at 4 o ' clock. Throughout all the tests, term papers, exams and studying, stu- dents at Elon were never bored with the rituals. There was al- ways one more beer to drink, one more game to win, one more dance to dance. From Sep- tember and Freshmen Orienta- tion, through October with Rush and Homecoming, through De- cember ' s exams and Christmas break; throughout January win- ter term, through February and Spring Rush to Spring Break, Greek Week, Exams and Gradu- ation — Elon students exper- ienced it all.
