It’s a big honor but how do they get it and what does it mean? Students are chosen from a large field all over the United States. They are selected for their academic and leadership accomplishments as well as community involvement. Their names are submitted after approval by the nominating committee at the school they attend for approval by the National Board. Once approved, they are included in the national publication of Who’s Who for life. 27

Dr. J. Fred Young. Elon College Leadership Honor Society The Elon College Leadership Honor Society is made up of outstanding students, faculty, administrators, and alumni. Qualifications for selection are character, scholarship, and leadership in both school and community. Members are nominated and reviewed by a special nominating committee and then approved by the society. The group held an initiation banquet last spring and a banquet for planning purposes during the fall. Members hope to sponsor the Award’s Day Program in the spring but have not received affirmation as yet. They have applied to Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership organization and have been tentatively approved by one of its national officers. At this time they are awaiting official confirmation. 29
