Pi Gamma Mu Pi Gamma Mu is a national social science honor society. The Elon Chapter has over fifty student and faculty members. This honorary society was estab- lished in 1924 to improve schol- arship in the social sciences. It supports and supplements other social science organiza- tions. Pi Gamma Mu is a far- reaching organization with chap- ters throughout the states and in the Philippines. Membership is selective in that an individual must be in- vited to join. In order to be eligible a person must have at least twenty semester hours of Social Science and a 3.0 aver- age or above. The faculty is responsible for setting standards of scholarship for induction except that not more than the top-ranking ten per- cent of the senior and junior classes, and not more than ten percent of students classified as seniors, including those previously elected to membership, may be elected.
