sensational weather, beautiful girls, anElon victory and parties L - Sunday morning, October 12, was like the quiet after the storm. The only people stirring were those who dragged themselves out early to see parents and friends off. Otherwise everyone remained in bed recovering from the weekend. The weekend had been a combination of Home- coming and Parents ' Weekend. Fri- day night the activities got under way and the culmination came Saturday with the enactment of all plans. The weather had been beautiful Saturday but the heat made the spec- tators miserable in their dresses, coats and ties, and corsages. The alumni were content having seen old acquaintances and an Elon football victory. The faculty and adminis- tration could pat themselves on the back that Sunday morning for having pulled off such a beautiful weekend. As parents departed they experienced mixed emotions about the weekend. They were sad about leaving and contemplating much they had seen over the weekend. Students rolled over Sunday morn- ing and were quickly reminded of just how late they came in and what a long, exhausting day Saturday had been. The aches and pains of the footballers were soothed by the memory of their outstanding per- formance the day before. Many held their heads and moaned, thinking about what a good party that had been Saturday night. As the tired bodies arose, they gathered in dorms, at fraternity houses and in the cafeteria to reflect on the weekend proceedings. The combination of Parents ' Weekend and Homecoming had been a thorn in everyone ' s side from the moment it had been announced. No one wanted to entertain parents and a date during the same weekend. Many worried that parents might feel uncomfortable at their parties and it would be hard for many to enjoy partying with their parents there. Also there would not be enough time to spend with parents during such a busy weekend. As the stu- dents reflected on it there was a general consensus that the weekend had gone smoother than expected but they wouldn ' t want the two com- bined in the future. Ralphael Clark had been crowned homecoming queen, ' a choice pleasing to almost everyone and the first male rep- resentative was rather well ac- cepted. Everyone agreed it had been a good weekend.
