The Field Secretary OUR FIELD SECRETARY, Mr. Paul C. Plybon, is responsible for all contacts between Elon College and all high schools and handles all applications for students applying for entrance to college. He has charge of all dormitory assignments for incoming students, also housing for married and single veterans, this including the sixty-six apartments. The Field Secretary is the liaison between the college and the Federal Government for such equipment, buildings and other facilities that are available to colleges and uni- versities through the Federal Agencies. He serves as purchasing agent for all building material that is to be purchased on the larger scale for the college. He is also in charge of all public relations. The Ahiiiini Oltue THE ALUMNI OFFICE was established at Elon College, with an executive secretary employed for full time work in March 1946. The purpose in establishing this office was to organize the alumni of Elon College into an active association, whose interest would be the promotion of Elon. To publish a monthly newspaper, that would carry news of the alumni and activities on the campus. Mr. James F. Darden, class of 1943, was se- lected to serve as the first full time executive secretary of the Elon College General Alumni Association. 17

GOVERNMENT . . . 1948 The activities of these two are correlated by the Student Body Officers and the business of the Student Body is carried on at the Monday morning assemblies in Whitley Auditorium. The offenders of the various rules are tried before the Senate and Council at times specified by the presidents of these bodies. The officers of the Student Body are elected from the various classes.
