The PRESIDENT TO THE CLASS OF 1948: Young people of today are confronted with unrealized and unexcelled opportunities. Often times apparent misfortunes are transformed into challenging privileges. The fruits of diligence and cooperation are abundantly rewarding. You of the Class of 1948 have met the challenges of the college campus, helped to solve some of its problems, and have set high standards in scholarship and social achievements for suc- ceeding classes. The administration is proud of you and wishes for you every possible success and happiness in life. Leon Edgar Smith, President.

Administmtion DEANS To the Class of 1948: My heartiest congratulations upon your graduation and my best wishes for many opportunities in which you can achieve both success and happiness throughout your life. I have derived much pleasure from my association with you. Dean of Women. Christina Hardy, To the Seniors: And now your graduation day is herel Soon you will take leave of the halls and colonnades of Elon, seeking greater worlds to conquer. With sadness I bid you fond adieu, for we were freshmen together, you as students and I as dean. Four glorious years, four tumultuous years, four years filled with activity, growth and achievement; and now — your graduation. I feel a deep sense of kinship with the Class of 48, and wish for you, individually and collectively, the best that the world may offer. As the years go by, may you look back upon those you spent at Elon, and say of them that they were happy and rewarding years. And looking forward, giving your best to God and man, may your lives be long and pleasant on the earth. Sincere best wishes to each of you! D. J. BOWDEN. Dean of the College. f
