CLASS HISTORY We, the Seniors of Elon College High School, began our Freshman year nervous and scared. Four years ago, early one morning in September, 1958, we started our high school years. They were to be- come the happiest and most exciting years of our life. After searching the halls for our classrooms, we finally became familiar with our routine. We sincerely and gra- ciously thank Mrs. W. B. Terrell and Mr. Clyde Boswell for getting us started in our freshman year of high school. As we became more familiar with the school routine we chose the following class officers: President-Mike Phillips, Vice- President-George Morningstar,Secretary- Sue Burge, Treasurer-Bill Hughes. When we returned in the fall of the next year, we were happy and refreshed Sopho- mores, ready to tackle another year of hard work and enjoyment. We again were gracious to Mrs. W. B. Terrell and Mr. Gerald Johnson for their excellent help and guidance. This time our selection for c la s s offi c e r s were: President-Rena Tickle, Vice - President - Lynda Daniels, Secretary - Linda Williams, Treasurer- Sam Webster. It was during this year that we began our money-making projects, for we were warned that events of our Junior and Senior years would require quitea bank roll. We sponsored two skating parties, after which we had many bruises and aching muscles. The time passed quickly, for we were Juniors before we knew it. Our wonderful and beautiful Southern Plantation Junior- Senior Prom was inspiring us as we were working very hard to raise money to pay for our supplies. One of our money-making projects, a play called Pest Guest, was a big success. We also sponsored a Val- entine Dance--which turned out to be a St. Patrick's Day dance. The dance had to be postponed so many times because of the heavy snow! Cape Canaveral had nothing on us Juniors--for while our government worked on the Satelite, we began our launching with the selection of our class officers: President-Glenn Goss, Vice-President- Sue Burge, Secretary - Lynda Daniels, Treasurer-George Morningstar. As the year came to a close, a dream of each Junior was realized . . . the owning of his own class ring. Finally the long-awaited moment ap- peared when the name Mighty Seniors was bestowed upon us. We elected our class officers as follows: President-Ken Ferrell, Vice-President-Danny Whitaker, Secretary-Freda Setzer, Treasurer-Gail Smith. The thought of leaving Dear Ole Elon and of what the future held was frightening, but we were encouraged by Mrs. Margaret Muckenfuss and Mrs. W.B. Terrell. We were very busy the first part of the year raising money for our wonderful Senior Trip. Last, but not at all least, was gradu- ation night, the most unforgettable night of our lives, although it was sad ..... Each step that led us on our long way up was hard, but because each person did his share, the efforts have been worth while. These four years have been wonder- ful and full of happiness. Friendships that have been formed will never die. We tearfully leave Dear Ole Elon High, but we always will hold a place in our hearts for our wonderful school. Historian Danny Whitaker gr:--1-Y-f -
