Timothy Wayne Heaps Jeffery Lee Heaps Mr. Echtenkamp said it best at a pep rally this Fall. Sometimes we forget to or neglect to tell people how much we love them and appreciate them ... Then all of a sudden they are gone or the moment is gone forever. A car train accident in May, 1986 took that moment for many of us. Tim and Jeff Heaps left Elmwood with their family for Hickman, Nebraska during the 1984-85 school year. They had been classmates, teammates and friends for many years. We saw them often at District basketball tournaments and other events — sharing once again moments — exciting and or disappointing. Happy, caring friends that we thought we would have forever. This yearbook is dedicated to their memory.

The Girl's Basketball program has also excelled with his coaching. Dr. Shepard and Mr. Novak share words of wisdom after graduation ceremonies. SCHOOL BOARD The 1986-87 school year began with Rich Clements, Meryl Backemeyer, Mike Zoz, Barb Miller, Jim Hoyt and Sharon Rorie as School Board Mem- bers who have donated many hours to serving the community and school. November elections may bring some changes, but as the edition of the yearbook goes to print we would like to thank these individuals! 2
