Ever since she had come home for a visit Gladys had been continually bothered with that telephone. . Hello,', she said. Then came a quick tone across the wire. Hello, Gladys, how are you? At once she recognized the voice. VVhy, hello Marge, when did you get back to Elmwood? . I came in on the train this morning to coach a play for the Social Union of the M. E. Church. VVhen I heard that you. were home, I just had to call you, so we could gossip about our old classmates awhile. A Well, I am extremely glad you called but we ca.n't talk on the telephone. VVon,t you come out and spend today with me, I'll come right in after you, if you will. VVhy, sure, if you are not too busy to have me. I'd just love to see you. S'long! Bye! meet you on SlIlltll'S corner ! Margery Mathis noticed many changes in the old home town as shesstood there waiting. Just then, she saw a high speed car coming down the street and who should be in it but Gladys with a gentleman at her side, whom she introduced as her husband. They chattered all the way home about themselves and old classmates, all the rest of the day and far into the night. Margery was working for a company in Chicago and had coached plays in many different states. Though, as yet, she had never married she had recently announced her engagement to Chic Grover, her old high school iiame. Gladys left for California in the fall after graduating, and had been there most of the time since. She has been acting in several talkies, but seems to be tired of them now. She says she is never going back again, but we all wonder if she really means it. She says that although she is married, she still loves her bachelor farmer the best. Have you heard , continued Marge, that Mr. and Mrs. Kay Butterfield are living hap- pily in a cozy apartment in Chicago. Mary and Kay are' very famous for their music, and the name of Butterfield is very widely known. ,Have you heard about Beth Shively? She is learning to be a beauty specialist and is experimenting on herself. I met Ralph Graham in New York not long ago. He is one of the most successful young lawyers of the United States, you know. Arwine and Louise were married three years after graduating. He has become a very successful minister and they entertain many people with their musicf' Mildred Reed is fast becoming an old maid. There seems to be no hopes for her any more. Had you heard that Eddie Bock has been sued for breach of promise six times since leaving high school. Too bad, isn't it, that he can't leave some of those pretty girls alone? Walt Cli-nch has been running a 'hot dog' joint in Yates City for the last five years. It,s easy work, so it suits him fine. Marge: At the end of a play which I was coaching in Pennsylvania, who should step up but Charles Livingston and as was his old custom, asked me for a date. I suppose that I was about the tenth for that evening, but I went just for old time sake. He is' a very dis- tinguished electrician at Pittsburgh now. He told me that Paul Hitchcock was wrestling the dead in Philadelphia. And that he and Susie are as happy as when they were bride and groom our Senior year in school. Since Cecelia and Verr have broken up, which was shortly after graduation, she has been writing love poetry. They say that since reding it, he is repentingf' asiswsvsasisasaasvsisaasisvsvseass asvasvafaaaaaa I 9 3 0 vasasaraafsaaasvsvsaasasaasasisisa T W E N T Y - Fl V E
