He saw several names of his old classmates of '27. He took the paper, went to his office, slouched down in his easy chair as was his fashion, and started tohread. . U Dr. and Mrs. Paul Hitchcock spent their vacation with Dr. Hitchcock s parents in Elm- wood. Mrs. Hitchcock will be remembered as Marie Fleisher of Elmwood. It .seemed that Q Marie had spent her time going to school and teaching, while Paul became famous as a i doctor in Chicago. . N ? - Mr. and Mrs. Verr Clark have just returned from tllell' honeymoon, from the Hawallan Islands. Mrs. Clark was formerly Thelma Callis of Elmwood. She plans to travel through the west during the sunnner. She has been a suc- W cessful teacher since 1928. 31 The VVarring Sex, a wonder picture, will be shown at tthe Palace Theatre Saturday night, May lst, featuring Glen DeFord. It seems that Glen left Elmwood for California K1 immediately after graduation and at once entered the movies. . Lynne Fagotte, a graduate of Elmwood, refereed the Basketball game last Thursday if' night. There was a large crowd, as all of his old friends wished to see him. He is coaching at Lewistown, where he has developed an excellent team. . 1 iq All the friends of Irma Flickinger will be glad to hear that she has accepted the position of cashier at the Myres Cafe of Brimfield. L' , It is rumored that Velda Scragg Police Matron of Peoria, has succeecem in causing 61 the arrest of several bootleggers in the surrounding country. 2 Leonard Heller and VVallace Emerick bade their wives good-bye at New York last week and left for Africa, where they expect to secure some wild game for their museum.- : . Miss Mabel Dawson has just returned from Paris. Her lovely coloratura soprano voice has won her much popularity in that country. U . I I ji The many friends of Clyde VVheeler will be glad to learn of his being appointed major at VVest Point, beginning September 1, 1937. I V ' Q Ada Bohrer, the most popular and celebrated dancer of the Ullegfield Follies' will ap- pear in her home town theatre at Elmwood this coming week in the Dance of the Angel, H All who are acquainted with her can readily forsee the fame which will follow her acting x1 the part of an angel. 2 Velda Eubanks was taken to the hospital today. How badly she was injured is not Q known. She was hurt when her airplane crashed near Elmwood, her home town. She was Q doing stunt-Hying for the Foster Circus company. I l Oral Gallagher, the greatest statesman of the age, has given lus consent to run for 2 Senator on the Republican ticket in the campaign this fall. H . ,C Lucille Murphy has been chosen cheer leader of the Gallihope College in Wisconsin. G Miss Murphy taught school after graduating, and has now decided to take up a gymnastic Q course at Gallihope. U Louis VVindish is now the head of the College of Agriculture at the U. of I. He and -Q his wife have just returned from a visit with her parents in Altona. l Q Leo VVindish has completed his missionary work at Singapore. He says he enjoyed Q his work, but prefers to remain in the C. S. A. now trying to convert some of the 'wi c Q ones here. I Z Corinne Zinn, who has been acting as bookkecper for the Governor, was on trial at Q Springfield, being charged by him for muddling his personal account. She was acquitted. Q Francis Shively has been on a singing tour of the world. He came back with a little Z French wife, who calls him Baby Face. He is scheduled to sing tonight at the Palace Q Theatre, where his classmate Louise Mcliinty will play the piano for him. Louise has taken a Beauty Course and expects to find a prosperious business in Elmwood. Q Helen Buxton is running the Buxton Hatchery at Peoria. She has been very successful in her chosen work. F Julia Patton is engaged in drawing pictures for the Photoplay Magazinef' She can S sure do her stuH as will be remembered when she was in High School. Glen Hall has just received the position of Chief of Police of Douglas, Illinois. He has ii been given instructions to round up the gang of bootleggers operating in that country.
