Clan fvfwtory It IS frequently stated that Class Hlstory repeats xtself but tlus statement 15 not altogether supported by facts as many lustonans have found to thexr sorrow As the task of f1nd1ng new facts has thxs year fallen to me l wxll relate some of the experxences of the class of 1949 50 ln the fall of 1937 forty two br1ght eyed unsuspectxng cluldren entered M1ss Lmdsey Pnmary Class After a long and hard struggle twenty four managed to graduate from the elghth grade 1n 1946 In the fall of 46 these 24 were Jomed by 22 from outlayxng dxstncts makmg a total of 46 Freshmen To start the year off w1th a bang Charles W1ll1amson was elected Presxdent Carvel LaMascus as Vxce Presxdent and Agnes Morphew as Secretary and Treasurer Pete and Mary Stephens and June Kennedy Joined our class ln the second semester As Sophomores Pete Stephens was elected Presxdent Alvln Turner as V1ce Presmdent and Maxme Roady Secretary George Dale made hrs appearance durlng th1s year whmch has caused much sorrow to the teachers of Elmore Cxty I-hgh Our Junmr Year was started by electmg Pete Stephens agam as Presldent B1lly Don Graves as V1ce Presxdent and Beth Henthorn our Secretary Beth Jomed us at the begxn nmg of th1s year and Bobb1e Damron durmg the second semester The hopeful Jumors ordered themr Class rmgs for Chr1stmas but were greatly drsap pomted smce we d1d not recewe them unt1l the fxrst of the year Here Comes The Prxnce our Jumor Play gwen March 11 1948 marked our plunge 1nto the dramatrc world On Apr1l Z9 we gave our .Tumor Semor banquet w1th the Gay N1net1es as the theme To show our abxlzty 1n c1v1c affalrs Pete Stephens and Charles Wrlhamson won the State Champxonshxp of Rural EZ1ectr1c1f1cat1on As the graduatlng class of 1950 we elected B1l1y Don Graves Presxdent Wayne Strxblmg as Vrce Presldent and Beth Henthorn agam as Secretary We were Jomed by Vxrgmxa Bennett and Joy Spence B111y Don Graves our Presldent IS the only member of the Semor Class who started mn Mrss Lmdsey s room and wxll graduate here We the Sen1ors of Ellrnore I-hgh wxsh to thank our teachers and schoolmates for the wonderful 12 years of our struggle xn school 12 O I , . . . . . .
