The members, after training, are able to teach, participate in and referee almost any sport. Members assist in Physical Education classes and such clubs as Sports Club, Intramurals, Archery and Bowling. A weekend trip to Pawling, New York is planned for Leader Corp mem- bers each year. Boys' Leader Corps The boys of the Leader Corp were always available to aid the teachers of the Physical Edu- cation Department. To assist in the smooth func- tioning of gym classes is the job of each member. The boys are responsible for instruction and the knowledge of the rules of each sport. C-T7 .5 wg ' 53: Varsity Claeerleaclers Pep. vim and vigor were the requirements for Varsity Cheerleading during '56-'58, At all Varsity competition in their thick green crewnecks and crisp white skirts, the cheerleaders were there to coordinate and improve school spirit. These seven pert cheerleaders had the distinction of being the first cheer- leaders at Elmont. Throughout their two years as members of the squad they tried, with much success, to keep their team winning and their fellow students cheering. Captain was Carol Moritz ancl Co-captain Terri Casparrini. The adviser was Nlrs. Charlotte Popellag Nlanager.
