,SQQWJQPJ5 have changed here at Elmira. We are a small college, but we too are in it. To be sure it is in small ways only that we can put forth our efforts along with those of yours, but we want you to know that we're beside you. We want you to know that a college girl,s life isn't all milk punch and gardenias. In spite of our surface frivolities we recognize the gravity of a world at war. Our minds are full of theories, facts, and formulas, but our thoughts are constantly with you and we're proud of the job you are doing. A If there were words adequate enough to express our feelings, we,d say them, but words have a provoking way of sounding meaningless at the important moment. e are dedicating our yearbook not only to the members of our armed forces, but also to our Patron Saint, Dr. W. S. A. Pott. We know that Dr. Pott will not find himself out of place in their company, since the things in 'which he believes bear a striking resemblance to the things which our fighting men are now striving to keep secure. Some of these things are irredeemable, simple things, except to those Who can recognize a satisfaction in good fellowship and in living together har- moniously and happily through four years of college. We shall remem- ber the way Dr. Pott accepted our proposal in our first senior week- end 5 the way he looked when we sang Our Bi11 g the way he helped us in our sophomoric struggles without really saying anything to show partiality in his positiong the way he showed his faith in each of us by following a standard of discipline which allowed our freedom of actiong the spaghetti parties and square dances with Mrs. Pott as our gracious hostessg the speech he gave when war was declared on that bleak day in December, 1941, and the way we found hope in his confidence and caution in his farsightedness. In a spirit of good fellowship, in a spirit of affection, in a spirit of hope for the preservation of things which we both esteem, we dedicate our yearbook to you -7pDr. Pott.
