Reidy Art Editor Co-Editor Editor-in-Chief Assistanrt Business Manager Standing: Francis Maloney Robert Ervin Business Manager Photography Editor C' Syracuse Convention The fourth annual Empire State School Press Convention was held on October 24-25, 1941, at the Hotel Onondaga. in Syracuse. The delegates from the Catholic High were Frank Maloney, Peter Shields, R-obert Ervin, Doris Schmidt, Agnes O'Herron, and Madeline R-uddick. Mrs. Merrill Hadlock, Sister Mary Stephen and Sister Teresa Clare also attended. The main events of the convention were lectures by well-known jour- nalists and educators, a. banquet and dance, and a football game between Syracuse University and Rutgers College. The convention was very valuable to the Clarion and Echo staffs, as it gave the delegates the opportunity of finding out new and interesting ways of publishing school papers and year- books. May 1 Our Lady's month - students sing in the hall. ' May 4 etc. Measles and niunips attack Catholic High. May 14 No school. Junior-Senior game - Seniors walk awa.y with long faces. May 18 Frank Maloney has his appendix out. May 19 Rainy day. Gonna. get a single? No. May 26 Junior Day - Seniors feted at banquet Mark Twain - Senior Prom follows. June 3 Senior Day! Seniors in their glory. Well, we don't get on the stage often. June 15-19 Final exams - The day of wrath, that dreadful day ! June 21 The Big Day! Graduation at St. Patriek's at 3 p. ni. Bonavenfure's Hosf To Young Journalisfs For the fourth consecutive year, the Clar- ion was awarded a silver trophy at the Annual School Press Convention held May 9 at St. Bonaventure 's College. Catholic High was well represented by a Large delegation. Nineteen students, accom- panied by Mrs. James Ruddiek and Mrs. Arthur Nolan, left Elmira early in the morn- SYRACUSE DELEG-ATES ing and traveled by bus to Olean. Through- out the day they enjoyed the contests, lec- tures, and informal discussions conducted by prominent figures in school and professional journalism. The crowning event of the day, however, to our students, was the awarding of first prize to the Clarion in the ininieo- gi-aphed paper department.
