OI-I GIVE ME Snowf-soft and silver and white In the darkness of the night. lvfoonlight--soft and mellowg falling on leaves of burnished yellow. Flowers-beauty and odor sublime, Summer, winter, anytime Stars-4a million deep set jewels, Reflections sparkling in deep pools. The child rare, with the heart and the smile To make the bubble of life worth-while Sunset-brilliant with splendid shades, A blaze of glory so quickly fades. A song-gay, or soft, lyrical and sweet, Accompanied by light dancing feet. A book-of adventure and conHict and dreams Of love and peace and war and schemes. And one more thing-a God to love-to wor- ship and adore. Give me all these, and I'll need nothing more. FRANCES IVICINERNEY OI 67 DISILLUSION I loved him with my heart and soul, And I thought he loved me too. I did my best to make him happy: There is nothing I didnlt do. But he trifled with my affections, Only pretended to return my loveg VVhile I worshipped him completely By all the stars above. And even though he is a dog I really fail to see Why my life, my hope, my reason for living Should turn and snap at me. ANN CROSSED I DREAM OE SHANGHAI I often dream of Shanghai And in my dreams I see A yellow moon a-shining Upon a yellow sea. I see the boat a-sailing To ever-crowded piers And slanting eyes a-shadowed VVirh ever-present fears. I see the fragile houses Un every narrow street And tired coolies trudging On ever-tired feet. I see the heathen temples VVhere heathens go to pray Before the great god Buddha I see the heathens sway. I hear the clacking chopsticks I smell the fragrant tea. I see the moon a-shining Upon the restless sea. ELLEN MOXLEY Io

SCHOOL DAYS All day long I sit in school To learn to be to industry a tool. VVhile near the window, in a tree A birdies sits and sings to me- I wonder if Perhaps he, too, I-Iad to learng to go to school. There he sits and sings all day Always in his perfect way- I-Iis object is to make us gay. Did he have to learn to say Be happy! Be gayln? Did he study day by day? Did he fly to school each day Never stopping on the way? Did he have to learn to sing, Study 'n' work ,n' everything? YVas the teacher a mother bird Teaching all her feathered herd? VVouldn't I love to go to school If a birdie taught each rule? But what would I do when lunch time came? The birdies have worms. VVould I have the same? Maybe I like the human ways Mziybe I like our ole school days. KIXTHLEEN SHEEHAN I SPRING IN NAZARETI-I The Christ Child played in the April air The sunbeams danced on I-Iis golden hair. lXfIary stood watching I-Iim, pain in her heart. What was she thinking? Soon they must part? The Christ Child laughed at a robin bold I-Ie laughed with the joy of a live year old. lVIary stood hearing I-Iim, Pain in her eyes. Laughter of childhood too quickly dies. The Christ Child bent over violets small I-Ie filled I-Iis hands with them, leaves and all, lVIary stood watching I-Iim, countenance pale, Did she see each hand pierced with a nail? The Christ Child gave her the Flowers sweet Fragrant and warm with the April heat. lXfIary's arms caught I-Iim and held I-Iim near. Did the sun glint on a shining tear? ELLEN MOXLEY o 6510
