Elmhurst new students gathered during Freshmen Week for group singing and fellowship led by Bobbie Brodt. A Week of Initiation Toward a College Education A typical Freshmen Week at Elmhurst College began again in September, 1962. Traditional ly, the week included a full schedule of events which provided orientation, relaxation, and fellowship for all the incoming students. Faculty ad- visors aided the new student in selecting a schedule, while student counselors initiated the newcomers to Elmhurst Col- lege living. Other events included an afternoon of games and fun at Wilder Park; an evening of group singing; and eve- nings of dancing. It was during this time that the group received their blue and white beanies and E Books both of which are constant companions of the students until Homecoming. The annual event sponsored by the Student Council gave new students an opportunity to meet Elmhurst. 4
