jForeijDorb IN THIS ISSUE of the Elms we have attempted to mirror campus hfe in all its major phases. On the whole, precedent has been used as a guide in arranging mate- rial ; but in numerous j laces we have deviated from the beaten path and added new features which we trust will yield pleasant surprises to our readers. In selecting our material, and in determining its fitness or unfitness for print, w e have applied the test of memory value. Just as at sunset, some window in Old Main catches the crimson light and imprisons it, so as we look back across the years msiy we find imprisoned in the pages of this book, those things which have made the hours at Elmhurst precious.
