This was the proposition that our speakers had to defend or oppose in various encounters with the debaters from other schools. In Ianuary and February the Ellsworth de- baters participated in the Hancock County De- bate League, sponsored by the County School- masters' Club. Bar Harbor, Bucksport, and Sumner were our oratorial competitors. The Penobscot Valley Conference Debating League was held in March with Ellsworth, Bar Harbor and Iohn Bapst as the host schools. Our speakers also participated in the Bates League as in past years. Several Freshmen participated in debate this year. Undoubtedly the experience they acquired will be of great proht to them in the years ahead. The debaters wish to thank the various mem- bers of the high school faculty who so graciously gave their time and services to act as judges for the home debates. Junior kerc Db 0 ..
