Janet Brent, Shirley Thomas. The F.H.A. Girls accomplished many things this year. This would not have been possible without the co-operation and leadership of the administration and the follow- ing chapter officers: President, Nancy Keeneg Vice-President, Eleanor Baneg Secre- tary, Alice Carlson: Treasurer, Margie Parker, Degrees Chairman, Shirley Thomas: Chairman of Public Relations, Marla Galnesg Reporter, Margie Coale: Historian Bar- bara Newberryg Parliamentarlan, Helen Woodfordg Recreation Chairman, Karen Wis- millerg and Chapter Parents, Mr. and Mrs. Parker and Mr. and Mrs. Keene. The main events of the year were the Pledge Service in September, the Formal Initiation in January, the Sweetheart Ball ln February, a potluck luncheon in mid-year, and a Carolling with a Chili supper following, during the Christmas season. A tour of Bloomington proved to be very enjoyable and educational. A gift shop featuring imports Klemm's Linen Department, and Stern's Furniture Store were visited. Later in the year a scavenger hunt was planned. Helen Woodford, a Junior, will attend State Camp at Lake Bloomington. 45

Stu dent Council SEATED: Barbara Newberry, Eleanor Bane, Dave Young, Don Builta. STANDING: Barbara Parker, Mr. Bates, Carol Diedrich, Ron Lauritson, Raymond Fairchild, Dave O'Neall, Warren Bates, Dick Young, Rick Roberts. Student Council began the year by electing the following officers: President, David Young: Vice-President, Don Builtag Secretary, Eleanor Baneg Treasurer, Barbara New- berry. They had a bake sale at the beginning of the year . At Christmas time they sponsored movies for the school. As part of the Intramural program, Student Council sponsored basketball, volleyball, and ping pong tournaments and the Slacks Day track meet. In April three representatives, Barbara Newberry, Dlck Young, and Dave Young at- tended the State Student Convention in Chicago. There they learned of many new ways ln which the Student Council can aid our school. 42

STANDING: Mr. Huddleson, George Scott, Don Builta, Jack Wall, Carroll Newberry, Jim Knight, Bill Wilson, Dick Young, Jeff Adams, Ron Lauritson, Ken ny Herman, Don Crutcher, Dale Walden, Harvey Brent, Don Coale, Harold Davis, Warren Bates. F.F .A . officers for the year were: President, Dave Young: Vlce-President, Dale Waldeng Secretary, Warren Bates: Treasurer, Harvey Brent: Watchdog, Don Coale. Mr. Mason Bates, our sponsor, was injured ln an automobile accident early in the year. All the boys were glad to see Mr. Bates hack in school at the end of the year. Mr. Frank Allen and Mr. Clyde Huddleson were the substitute sponsors and agricul- ture teachers . Throughout the year the F .F .A . has made and sold hog waterers. They also judged livestock and went to contests at Normal and Pontiac. They had lessons in Forestry and planted some very nice trees on the school grounds. Smart girls go to ROLANDS to find the newest in schoolwear ---- So modestly priced! 44
