we 'Q f fo ,r The Ellsworth High School basketball team coached by John Adamson enjoyed a inir season this current year, winning six and loosing twelve in a stiff sche- dule including several class WAN schools. The team was handicapped by the lack of.experience for there was no team the previous year because there were no playing facilities. In the opener the home town boys played satisfactorily but dropped a decision to a rangy East Washingtaiteam by the score of 2l-12. Having lost the initial tilt.the Cokers took Belle Vernon as their victim and copped their first win by the score of 47-20. The Ellsworth Quintet won their next encounter from Beallsville, the score being 31-20. The locals invaded Bentleyville for the first sectional tilt but vrre subdued by the score 54-22. The Cokers defeated the East Bethlehem team in a thrilling last minute victory, which had the crowd on its feet. The score was 37-36. In the next en- counter, thc Ellsworth Quintet lost, a one-sided game to a strong Redstone team by a score of 54-19. East Pike Hun lost to the locals in a fast game by a margin of 22-19. The Cokers were easily subdued by North Belle Vernon, the score being 49-19. Ellsworth played German Township for the first game on its new elaborate gymnasium. The game was a see-saw affair with German coming out as the winner by 23-18. Ellsworth High upset a favorite Center- ville team in a nip and tuck battle, winning by a 31-27 score. The locals went up against Bentleyvilke in their next game and lost in the final moments. This game was mostly a game of skillful guarding as the score indicates. It was 19-l4. East Bethlehem came to Ellsworth and sought re- venge for their previous setback. They won by a score of 40-28. The Redstone section leaders were held to a 39-24 count by the locals in a fast game which show- ed careful guarding and accurate shooting. Ellsworth.received another set back at the hands of East Pike Run in a final minute victory, the score being 29-25. Following this Ellsworth was defeated by a score of 59-29 in a high-scoring game 2 . I

Girls Basketball team. It was a very successiul one. , Txe team consisted of twelve girls from the re, Junior and Senior classes. They were so ious over other schools but were defeated by a eam composed of members of the faculty. Mr. John Adamson was coach of the Girls team. 10
