Roscoe De Busk was the first affirmative speaker and Jerome Saxe the second speaker. Willa Lovett acted as alternate for the affirmative. Helen Rodgers and Letitia McNulty alternated as the first negative speaker. Thomas Lloyd was the second negative. Mr. Merlin Beck ably filled the coaching posi- tion. The debating team reached the semi-finals and vied for fourth place at the Washington County Tourna- ment at Claysville. The prospects for next year are bright as all members will be experienced in the field of debating. Girls' Glce Club Seven years ago, Miss Eloise Bates organized the Girls' Glec Club. It has steadily increased in size every year, until now there are forty-seven members. This year, the Glee Club presented a Christmas Candlelight Service and also had the honor to sing at the Washington County Teachers Institute. The club won first place in Class C of the County Music Contest. The regular meetings are held each Tuesday and Thursday. The Club is still under the direction of Miss E. Bates. The officers for the present year are: President - Mary Di Nardo Vice Pres - Eleanor Homme Secretary - Letty McNulty Treasurer - Regina Bubris
