The chorus, after a brief delay because of snow, left Ellinwood Monday around 12:l5. All the appear- ances for Monday were canceled except the night con- cert at Onaga. The group traveled straight to Wamego to the motels where they stayed Monday night. After eating supper and changing clothes, they left the mo- tels for Onaga. A mixer party was held for the group after the evening concert. The songsters arose bright and early for their 9:00 appearance at Wamego High School. The trip was con- cluded with performances at Council Grove and Marion. Five Ts” Received At Contest Speech department returned home from last Friday's contest with five 1 ratings. This enables the con- testants to go to either Hayes or Lawrence for the State Meet. The students receiving the 1 ratings were Phil Richter, dramatic reading, and Evelyn Komarek, extemp- oraneous speech. The one-act play, The Last Curtain , also received a 1 . The cast consisted of Jerry Birzer, Phil Richter, Stephen Kimple, Connie Graff, Mary Ann Blevins, and Vicki Warren. Jim Chumley was the sound man and Leon Spacil the student director. Janice Hawkins was the outstanding contestant linwood.
