For the first time, candidates were sponsored by classes and organizations with the finalists and queen being chosen in an all - school election. In previous years the candidates and queen were chosen by the basketball players. The candidates first chosen were: Linda Barnes, sponsored by the Senior class, Diane Jenkins sponsored by the Junior class, Tammy Seagraves the Sophomore class candidate, Lana Crafton chosen by the Freshman class, Lisa Gilmer the Student Council's candidate, DeeAnna Rhodes sponsored by the Pep Club, Cindy McNail sponsored by the Pep Club, and Diane Jenkins and Pam Shy who were sponsored by the basketball teams.
