Bee, Arlen Coles, Peyton Cugle, joe Fairwell, Bernard X Fredericks, Daniel L Q 4 m Goins, Alfonza Graziani, Herb S Howard, Ted 4 johns, Robert SHOP CLUB The Shop Club, under the supervision of Mr, George Var- konda, consists of twenty-three students from the seventh grade. The club meets during Thursday's activity period. The boys in this club period are divided into two sections, namely: wood- working and metalworking. In woodworking most of the boys construct book ends, wall plaques, book racks, initial lamps, bread boards, and other articles. In the metal section, the boys work mostly with metal wall placques, which are different in COOKING CLUB OFFICERS President ,.........................,.......... ...Ted Howard Vice Prerident .....,.. .......... VARIETY SHGNX' Promptly at eight o'clock on December eighth, the house lights dimmed, the footlights went on, the curtains of the E.C.H.S. stage parted, and the Variety Show of 1951 began with a terrific Can- Can, featuring the ninth grade boys. There follow- ed a procession of acts designed to put vaudeville back in business. Annette Cushwa and Pat Moylan did a remarkable pantomime to How Could You Believe me? Pat and Tommy Powell mystified the audience with' a sleight-of-hand act. Faith Hip- sley, Linda Lyons and Carol Sykes teamed u to sing Candy and Cake. Her version of a ladjy at a football game was given by Nancy Force. Betty Lord danced a Mexican Hat Dance, while Annette Cushwa gave a Charleston demonstration and joan Sheets took her audience to the South Seas with a tropical dance. Dora Deavers sang, joe Cugle beat it out on his trap drums, Mr. Foutty acted out a monologue and the E.C.H.S. faculty band performed. The curtains closed on a baton twirling and cheer- leading scene featuring Ann Feaga, Martha Miller, Marlyn Boone and Helen Bean. Act II brought a fast-moving Minstrel Show with Malcolm Hoover handling the interlocutor duties. The End Men in gay costumes delivered the usual jokes and really gave out with some wonderful solos. These roles were filled by Allan McCauley, joe Cugle, Buddy Nazelrod, Tommy Webb, Mary jo Justice, Betty Miller, Donald Perdue, Rebecca Feaga, Lawrence Smallwood, and joan House. An enthusiastic chorus of E.C.H.S. boys and girls in black faces and red bow ties filled in with gay and lusty singing, while johnny Baker sang a solo and Alfonza Goins, Earl Sears and Richard Salisbury acted out a special comedy skit. Throughout wonderful job had more fun Varkonda and The packed success as well the show, Rowena Safley did a as accompanist. Faculty advisors who than anybody were Miss Sauter, Mr. Miss A.
