E3EiELLAMARADA5E?E? l l The Eagles, instructed by Coach Maurice Sakel, have been suc- cessful enough to win fourteen games from their twenty scheduled games. They were defeated by the following teams: West Baden, Bloomington, French Lick ftwicej, Dale, and Shoals. This year's record is above average: however, it does not rank as high as the record of last year. The team was unsuccessful in carrying away the laurels of the Wabash Valley Preliminary at Spencer, as they were defeated by Gosport in the final game. The Eagles have encountered different, as well as bigger and better, teams this year. The Eagles took part in the sectional held at Martinsville, Indiana. The team was lucky when it came to drawing, for they drew the by, but they were not quite so lucky when they met their team which was Mooresville. Mooresville won by a small margin, and that put the Eagles out for this year. But We are hoping that next year that noth- ing can put them out, that they can go ahead farther than any other team of Eagles has ever gone. .-532512 L L A M A R A D A 533535.-- Y Y' 53:55 SENIOR ACTIVITIES CLASS NIGHT The Senior Class of Ellettsville High School presented a program on the night of April 21, 1939. The entertainment was in the form of a hay-loft party with each member taking part. JUNIOR-SENIOR BANQUET The Juniors entertained the Seniors at a lovely banquet held April 22, at the Graham Hotel in Bloomington. After dinner was served everyone enjoyed a midnight show. BACCALAUREATE On Sunday evening, April 23, 1939, parents and friends gathered in the Baptist Church to hear the Baccalaureate Sermon delivered by Reverend Evans of the Baptist Church of Ellettsville. His sermon was very interesting and everyone benefited by it. The Reverend Crider of the Ellettsville Methodist Church pronounced the benediction. COMMENCEMENT On April 24, the Senior Class of 1939 assembled in-the new high school gymnasium for the presentation of diplomas. The commence- ment address was delivered by Dr. Montgomery from Vincennes. The address was very interesting and enjoyed by all who were present. Diplomas were presented to the graduating class by the principal, Mr. C. E. Stewart. Benediction was given by the Reverend Crider. Forty-one
