In the year of 1940, the 1939 graduating class of Ellettsville High School held a reunion and decided to charter a plane, called the Eagle Clipper, to take a trip around the world. They started May 20, 1940. Each member was aboard with his wife, her husband, and sweetheart. Just as they were passing over the Hawaiian Islands, they were forced to land. The class decided to stay awhile entertaining themselves. Then years later, 1950, we see the class after they were forced down in Hawaii. A part of the class has gone back to the United States and a part of them has remained on the Islands. L. Dee Addie, who is back in Indiana, is a drummer boy in that universally known swing band called the Wild Cat band, whose leader is Robert Jack- son. Robert is known all over America as the king of swing. Ellen Berry is a beauty parlor operator in one of the many beauty parlors in Ellettsville. Naomi Breeden is a stenographer in a J. C. Penney dry goods store in Stanford, Indiana. ' Maxine Brown, that witty brown-eyed little girl, is a maid for Mrs. Forrest Freeman. Maxine is very fond of her occupation. 'Ella- louise Bruce has grown old and faded because her lover remained in Hawaii to woo a native girl. Helen Carpenter has won fame being an Interior Decorator for one of the country's larger furniture factories. Dola Conner has taken advantage of her ability to draw and is teaching art in one of the leading universities in the country. Adah Crider has married some young man and is said to have one of the most perfect homes that a girl could wish for. Luella Cris- more stayed on the Islands and has grieved herself into insanity over a sweetheart who was carried away by a native girl. Betty Curry has realized a childhood ambition and has become a head waitress in one of the most up to date hotels. Ruth Curry has found her a sweetheart. Everyone is expecting to hear of an exclusive wedding to take place soon. Clair Dillman, the most mischievous member of the class, is now a manufacturer of bow ties and striped socks. Clair has settled down since his schooldays and has a sweet little wife and a set of twins. Leland Engledow is seen in the sport-light as being one of the most sought-after basketball coaches in America. Nineteen
