CLASS HISTORY In the autumn of 1952 the Sen1or class of 1958 stepped foot IDIO the halls of Ellet Iun1or Sen1or Hlgh School for the f1rst tlme Although we were only a small part of the school and part1c1pated 1n only a few GCIIVIIIGS 1t was the beg1nn1ng of the largest graduat1ng class from Ellet Htgh School and one that lwe hopel w1ll be long remembered for the1r accom pl1shments and scho1ast1c stand1ng ln that f1rst year at Ellet we elected Sandra Axl1ne as our Homecommg attendant Peggy Kurtz Basketball attendant and LaVon Hiller to the May Court We were represented 1n Red Cross by Sue Sm1th Sherman Axlxne Ioan M1ller Carol Clarke Frances Reagan and Iohn 1-laylett Representatlves to Student Counc1l were I1m Elhson Larry Combs Iucly Ohlr1ch and Mar1e Keener A new mus1c group The Corn Cobblers was or gan1zed Its members were Danny Roth Iudy Ohlr1ch Bob Sanko Tom Hopktns Ilm Parker Roger Bald1nger Ellana F1am1n1 Cheryl PSIYGIIIS Iohn Roman Ronn1e H111 and Harold Le1th When we returned the next fall as e1ghth graders we elected as new Student Counc1l representat1ves Bonn1e Boyer Iudy Ohlr1ch Iohn Stock Bud Axl1ne and Bob Sanko E1ghth graders playmg on the Freshman football team were Iohn Haylett Don Lam1son Al Kendall and B111 Graham Cheermg them on from the s1de11nes were Karen Conner and LaVon H1l1er who were cheer leaders They also cheered for Roger Bald1nger Iohn Stock 11m Park r Iohn Duff Rus Nelson Frank Brown who were on the 7th and Sth grade basketball team The attendants for the var1ous courts were Bonn1e Boyer Homecomlng Karen Conner and Roger Bal dmger Sweetheart Iudy Ohlr1ch Basketball El1ana F1am1n1 May Court Many students took part tn muslc act1v1t1es among them Choral1ers S1ngers and Band Red Cross representat1ves ln the 8th grade were Nancy EUSIICS ludy H1nkle Mary G1l11an Peggy Kurtz Pat Fxnney and Bob DGVIS Ehana F1am1n1 was pres1dent of the 7th and 8th grade Y Teen club and helplng her were ludy Ohl r1ch VICE pres1dent Pat Gal1t secretary and Karen Conner treasurer Many g1rls belonged to thls club When we reached our Freshman year we off1c1al1y began our htgh school days Th1s was when we IITSI started to bu1ld and mold our class together Play1ng the1r IITSI of four years of football at Ellet were Iohn Haylett Roger Cook Roger Bald1nger Al Kendall Bob Sanko D1ck Rouser Iohn Stock and Dan Roth Those who played for three years were Larry Ramey Delmer Ile and Ron H111 Two year players were hm Parker B111 Lak1ns B111 Graham 11m L1s1c lohn LISIC Larry Dukeman Tom Herhold and Dean Llnard Larry Mugrage and Dave Duke both played one year Pat Gal1t Bev D111 LaVon H11ler and Sandy Dobbs were Freshmen Cheerleaders Sandy and LaVon went on to become Reserve cheerleaders 1n the1r sophomore and Jun1or years The Freshman class was well represented on the basketball teams Several boys played for four years They were Roger Cook Iohn Haylett Pat Carter Roger Bald1nger Frank Brown Iohn Stock and D1ck Rouser Those who played for the1r freshman year only were Dan Roth Iohn Duff and Ed Castner The g1rls were not to be outdone 1n basketball A Y Teen team was chosen and these g1r1s played on 1t Loretta Epl1ng Pat Gal1t Sandy Sl1fe Bev Suther land Iudy Ohlr1ch LaVon Hlller and Nancy W1lson Loretta Pat Sandy and Bev went on to play on the t am for four years Iudy LaVon and Nancy each played two years A new club Iun1or G A A was started 1n our fresh man year lt had 30 freshman members and tts IITSI OIIICGTS were Iudy Ohlr1ch pres1dent Pat Gal1t v1ce pres1dent Sandy Br1cker secretary Ioyce Whltmer treasurer Ronn1e H111 I1m Parker Dan Roth and Bob Sanko became members of Sen1or Cho1r ln the1r freshman year and rema1ned 1n 1t for four years Ronn1e was elected VICE pres1dent 1n h1s Jun1or and sen1or years Bud Axhne Roger Bald1nger Pat Carter Bla1ne Conrad Larry Dukeman Iohn Haylett Ioe Heckerman Tom 1-lerhold Tom Hopkms Al Kendall Rus Nelson T1m Probst and Tom Yeng11ng were all members of Iumor ChOlT A Freshman G1rls Cho1r was started and 1t had 68 g1rls 1n 1t Its f1rst ofhcers were Bev Sutherland pres1dent Deanna Dewberry v1ce pres1dent Bonn1e Boyer secretary Marsha Horton treasurer There was also a group of g1rls who were known as the S1ngers Its freshman members were Bonn1e Boyer Karen Conner Pat Gal1t Iack1e PISYCS Sandy Northrop Dor1s Sees and Bev Sutherland Out of a l1ne of elght malorettes we were honored to have four of them freshman Rece1v1ng the honors were Sand1e Crutchfleld Carol K11eber Karen Conner Cheryl Petra1t1s and Ann Senn alternate Sand1e rema1ned 1n the 11ne all four years of hlgh school and years There were 34 freshmen 1n the Band Pat Gal1t was our attendant to the Homecomlng Court and our Da1sy Mae and L11 Abner were Karen Conner and Roger Bald1nger We elected Sand1e Banyar as our Basketball attendant and Nancy Eus t1ce to the May Court Ray Ashton Iudy Ohlr1ch Pat R1ddel and Bob Sanko were our representat1ves to Student Counc1l Chosen to be Iumor Red Cross members were Larry Combs Karen Conner E11ana F1am1n1 lerry Nahas George RICKS and Ianet W1lson Y Teen sported 35 freshman members Iudy Ohlr1ch was chaplaln for the club A large part of the class were members of B1ble Club Teresa M1ller Ruby Mull1ns and Peggy Peterson were the art1st1c members of the class tn the Art Club Kenny Meyers and Sandy Dobbs had the honor of belong1ng to the Natlonal Thespxan Soc1ety and Dramat1cs Club for four years whxle Ronn1e H111 1o1ned them rn hlS sophomore year and Iack1e P1erce IH her 1un1or year Sandy was secre tary IU her sophomore year Dramat1c Club members 1n the1r freshman year were L1nda Lambert Susan Head Iudy H1nkle and Dave McCartney Peggy Kurtz became a member of the Belltones 1n her fresh1e year and rema1ned one unt11 she was a sen1or She was 1o1ned by Bonn1e Boyer ln 10th grade and Cheryl Carroll 1n llth grade By our sophomore year we were begxnmng to th1nk about our future as SSHIOIS We chose our class colors to be blue and wh1te and by sprxng we were proud owners of class Jackets Ierry Nahas and Ehana F1am1n1 were added to Student Counc1l 1n our sophomore year Karen Conner was elected treasurer of lun1or Red Cross and became pres1dent IH her tumor year Other representat1ves 1n the 10th grade were Iamce Carr Tom Hopktns who was v1ce pres1dent h1s sen1or year and Ierry Nahas Ianet W1lson Iudy H1nkle and Ralph
