CIASS HISTORY Once upon a ttm tn the land of Ellet the custom of gotng to school was establtshed Thts custom came aown through the ages to the year 1949 when one hundred brtght faced youngsters entered the halls of Ellet Htgh School to complete thetr ftnal four years of formal educatton At ftrst they were frtghtened at the thought of betng on the last leg of thetr tourney whtch started the begtnntng of thetr ltves as adult ctttzens Soon how ever they became acquatnted wtth everyone whtch tncluded thetr new classmates the upper classtnen the teachers and of course the great castle tn the gu-tse of the Htgh School ttself In tht tale we wtll try to tell of the acttvtttes whtch take place tn thts castle and how many of tts tn habttants became Kntght and Ladtes and won hetr rtghtful place tn the hearts and memortes of all who knew them both as a class and as tndtvtduals ln the Htstory of the retgn of the Ktngdom of the class of 53 there shall always rematn tn the memory of the other subject thts classs abtltty to gtve par ttes wtthout nottce and to make a success of them Everyone wtll remember the fun that thts class as a Whole had at all ttmes and places N you mustnt thtnk that the ktngdom of thts ttme had only fun oh no for there were many who rated very htgh scholasttcally There were clubs for honor students tn the Ktngdom of thts ttme One such prestdent of thts club tn 53 was Patty Fasnacht Another such honor group was the Nattonal Honor Soctety Tho e elected tn thetr luntor year were Io anne Brewer Fred Butcher Colleen Iones Dean Ktlgore Bobbte Pearhac and Lou Anne Walltck Those elected tnto the organtzatton as Sentors were Carol Carruthers Shtrley Crttes Beena Greenaway Kenny Henkel Dtck Iones Dtane Snowden Mary Anne Sztlagy Delores Ltlley and Ioyce Mtcheals The prest dent of the Nattonal Honor Soctety tn thts classs sentor year was Ioanne Brewer When the class of 53 was tn tts second year there were 35 subtects who transferred to Ellet from another ktngdom CBast Htgh Schooll ln the class of 5.3 there were many who retgned for a day Etther as a queen or a ktng Thts class had two homecomtng queens In our luntor year the home comtng queen was Pat Roman and retgntng as the queen tn our Sentor year was Betty Sonneberger The ladtes tn watttng from our class down through the ages were Freshman Suzte Fltgor Sophomore Betty Sonneberger luntor Ieanne Kauffman and Sentor Shtrley Snyder One of our class retgned as royalty of Elleteen tn our Sophomore year Thts queen was Pat Roman The Sweetheart Royalty for two years had a 53 graduate as tts queen In l952 the queen was lantce Bobtnson and Carol Velleca retgned as queen tn 1953 In 53 the attendant were Lou Anne Walltck and Pat Roman In connectton wtth the Basketball season the Ktng dom of Ellet held an annual dance and celebratton In the 53 celebratton two of our class members were Ktng and Queen They were Chtck Oldham and Barbara Btshop The attendant for the 52 court was Colleen lones and the Serttor attendant for Barb and Chtck was Carole Velleca Crowntng Barb was Dean Ktlgore and Pa ty Fasnacht was the crowner of Ch1c,k Mayl And agatn the class of 53 had a btg part to play tn the festtvtttes durtng thetr four years at Ellet ln 50 the atendart to the May Queen was Bobble Pearhac In l95l tt proved to be Barbara Btshop I our Iuntor year the May Queen was Barbara Beal and the luntor attendant was Ioan Ruth ln our Sentor year Carol Carruthers was the attendant to the Queen of the May Two Earls from the class of 53 were l-'red Butcher and Don Whttmer tn that they were luntor Rotartans When the class of 53 was tn tts sentor 'year Kenny Henkel retgned as the head of the Student Govern ment fPrestdent of Student Counctll Down through thts classs four years at Ellet there were always representattves to Student Counctl and those who represented thetr class tn governmental matters were Kenny Henkel f4l Fred Butcher Patty Fasnacht llm Underwood l3l Barb Beal Colleen lones Dean lxtlgore Bobble Pearhac and Betty Sonneberger C21 and lantce Robtrtson Bob Showalter and lackte Trtche ill In the ltsts the galantry of our boys was outstand tng In the football tournaments many of the boys were qutte acttve Those playtng varstty football for four years were Floyd Keathley Dean Ktlgore lack Sypherd Fred Butcher Dale Provtrce and Itmmy Underwood Those who played for three years were Ray Fretz Gregg Powers and Ronnte May Those playtng varstty ball for two years were Luke Lamb Chtck Oldham Don Wtlltams ltm Barnes and Steve Galtt Ed Carter and Danny Blough played for one year Floyd Sypherd was co Captatn of the Varstty team for two years whtle Fred Butcher was for one year Dale Provtnce was a member of the All Ctty All County and All Metro team whtle he was a Sentor In basketball our class was very acttve durtng our four years at Ellet One member of our class played Varstty for four years Dean Ktlgore Playtng Var stty for three years was Gregg Powers whtle Don Wtlltams Tom Cannon and Chtck Oldham played for two years Kenny Henkel was a one year Varstty team member Dean Ktlgore was the team Captatn tn hts sentor yea Leadtng the Band as Matorettes tn the
