Class History September 3 1936 Dear Diary One hundred and nineteen other students and I entered Ellet High School today There were about 62 boys and 57 girls who came from Wlndemere and Ellet grade schools They were all good looking and eager to take over Ellet for themselves in the next four years This first day was very difficult and was spent in trying to un derstand school policies and to keep out of the way of upperclassmen Under the watchful eyes of these superior beings a group of tyrants who called themselves sophomores spent the day exhlbitmg freshman boys legs painted faces and reversed shirts September 3 1937 Dear Diary Its been a year since I last wrote an account of the school llfe here in Ellet Last year in 1936 we freshman did well for ourselves One of the boys in our ranks took top honors in the scholastic field Many of the boys and girls in our class received sport literary or activity letters during the year Today we sophomore boys fixed the new freshmen boys The usual ceremony of initiation was in effect throughout the day It felt swell to be giving instead of taking the punishment called lnitiation June 13 1939 Dear Diary tember when we shall come back as seniors Last year when we were sophomores we did our share in school activities Many of us had duties to perform in sports clubs and plays One high light of the year was the operetta Lady of the Blue Moon This year that has Just passed has been the biggest we have ever had Being Juniors we were entitled to buy class Jackets give a Junior dramatic club play and enterta1n the seniors at a banquet Our class flower is a dark red rose The class colors are black and red We ordered our class rings late in the second semester They will be delivered next fall June 13 1940 Dear Diary Our last year arrived sooner than we expected This last year was filled with work that made the few remaining, weeks short for most of us We staged a senior dramatic club play bought class pictures graduation an nouncements and formed a staff to put out the annual Elletlan Our prom was held at Silver Lake Country Club Today our commencement was held in the East High School auditorium where we received our diplomas We are now ready to ven ture into the world alone Tomorrow we return our maroon and white caps and gowns and our high school days will be over George Marmoff Class '40 Historian Page Fifteen I 3 ' . Class Prophecy By J 1m Hlssam One day ln 1952 as I was SIIJIZIHU' at my desk 1n the chemlcal laboratormes of the Goodyear T1re and Rubber Co I was not1f1ed that I was to cooperate wlth another chemlst 1n an experlment Much to my surprlse the other chemlst turned out to be my old classmate George Marmoff who had taken ln college the same course I had studled We lmmedlately started dlscusslng our former classmates and what they were do mg I told h1m that our old physxcs classmates Dlck Swartz LeRoy Bosley and Jack Bray were also employed ID the Goodyear chemlcal laboratorles but on dlfferent ShlftS He sa1d that he must look them up and then asked me about the rest I told h1m that Tom Austen had started a gas statlon of h1s own and was now g1v1ng h1s father a good deal of compet1t1on As I had no flrst hand lnformatlon about the rest of my classmates we declded to v1s1t Mrs WIISOH who was ln charge of the records of the HCt1V1tl6S of the Ellet alumnl She was surprlsed to see us and told us she would be glad to tell us what our classmates were dolng Well she sald I see here that the Hlgg1nS boys Roger and Everett are IH the undertaklng bus1ness Darrel Ward and Wayne Sanders are mechanlcs IH an alrplane factory IH Detrolt Blll Boughton has become a chlropractor Whlle Paul Arnold has become a lawyer Kenneth Reed IS an edltor of a rural magazlne and Martha Jack son IS h1s secretary Mary Jane Kunselman MHFIS Hesldence and Betty Owen are sec retarles and Mary Jane has kept ahve an old tradxtlon by marrymg her boss son She paused to turn the page and then contmued saylng Several of your class mates are marrled Dlck Hosklns and Joanne Ormlston are happ1ly marrled as are Hoyt Wells and Lols Short Geraldme May Chrlstlne McMuldren Betty Gaston and Rosemary Cardarelll found husbands from outslde your class Ellzabeth Faffer Rose mary Hayes and Bessle Moore are engaged and are planning to be marrled soon Several of the boys have entered the fleld of sports too she contlnued John Bond Itch McFarland and Carl McCrory are playmg professlonal baseball whlle Rob- ert Sausaman has become natlonally known as a raclng driver wlth Shorty Long as h1s asslstant Wes Haylett IS a candxdate for state governor Clark Baer IS h1s publxc 1ty agent Joe Hames IS a candldate for the Socxallst partys nomlnatlon for presldent Chuck Brown IS a department superlntendent ln the Goodrlch Co whlle George Sny der Dale Frese and Jack Lazenby are worklng for the F1restone Co Robert Grlzer IS workmg for the General Tlre Co where he IS employed as a travellng salesman I belleve that takes care of all the boys she sald so lets look at the rest of the gxrls Bernadlne Bolen Rose Ann Lemley and Llla Marker are worklng for the M ONe1l Co Jeanette Woodllng and Jane Wenum have become nurses whlle Arlene Neff and Mlldred Slmms are school teachers Ruth Llmber and Marjorle Kefauver have contmued thelr dramatlc work and are now 1n New York Annetta Lute and LUCIIIG Keathley are bookkeepers at the Goodrlch Co Ruth Re1ter and Paulme Fletcher are marrled and now l1ve IH Florlda.. That IS all of your classmates she sa1d Are there any other questlons you want to ask me? Yes sa1d George Have the school authorltles made any lmprovements about the old school bu1ld1ng'? Why yes she repl1ed they have bullt a new bulldmg and are now uslng the old one for the lower grades.
