CARPE DIEM It is a bit of irony that so few students realize that their high school years are probably the best years of their lives. By best here, we mean most important and formative ones. For school is not only a donor of facts, but a powerful milieu for the forming of attitudes and emotional colorings that will stay with the person throughout his life. Potentialities find new development here and limitations make them- selves known as well, giving opportunity for substitution or change of direction. So here the course is charted. Knowledge is broadened and points of view are cultivated. Now the expanded surroundings give room and facility to mental and physical movement. A fresh outlook can lead to greater progress both for the present and in the years ahead. Alma Mater has been rightly named-a loving mother that pro- tects and inspires and tries to let each become what he is capable of being. She knows that the throughway of life moves irrevocably on and the next toll gate comes very soon. Take time to become. The time to be is so very short. 4 1

It represents the progress and accomplishments of the class behind it, and records their achievements for posterity. If their deeds have been noteworthy, then they Will be re- membered in the school, and their yearbook will be cherished. The Year- book Staff is proud to present the record of achievement of the class of 1957, in hopes that it has been a credit to its school. THE YEARBOOK STAFF
