They Have Arrived Girls Go To Regionals The girls basketball team had a 15-8 win-loss record. In the first annual South East Conference tournament, the Cards placed second. They lost to Lisbon in the championship game. 68-40. In the first and second rounds of District play, the Cards overtook Marion and Oakes to advance to the championship game against Montpelier. The Cards were beaten by Montpe¬ lier 5048. This enabled LaMoure to challenge them for second place. They finally earned their right to make their first appearance in Regionals by defeating LaMoure. The most memorable game was the victory over the number eighth rated team in the state, Lidgerwood. The score see¬ sawed back and forth throughout the game. The Cards finally squeezed a one point victory 34-33. after one over time. In the semi finals Lisbon defeated them. In the consu lation game the Cards overtook Central Cass 51-30, to take third place in Region 1. Named to the South East Conference team were Wendy Hansen, Lisa Voegeli. and Debbie Hokana. Coach Wenaas commented that it was the best year that the girls basket¬ ball team has ever had.
