Losing to Leola their first game, they came back with 7 conference wins to take the confer¬ ence crown, climaxed by a 14-0 win over Oakes. The Cards played Kindred in the annual S.E. Conference vs. Wild Rice Conference play off, only to lose 12-0 to end the season. 1973 Redbird [High School Annual, Ellendale North Dakota] 31 32 1973 Redbird [High School Annual, Ellendale North Dakota] BASKETBALL The 1972-73 basketball team was predicted to have a successful year. The Cards ripped through the regular sea¬ son with a 16-4 record. When districts had come and gone it was a disappointment to all Ellendale fans, losing to Mo- nango and LaMoure. Ellendale placed the most players of any team on the All-Conference team, they were Ernie King, Gary Boekelheide, and Pete Graham. Yet graduation is much more.
