Instead of the traditional initiation, a program and pep fest was held in the afternoon. That evening Ellendale defeated Edgeley in the football game. The day was climaxed by a patty in the multi-purpose room. The Queen, her attendants, and their escorts after the Grand March at the patty. PRINCESS SANDY 1960 JUNIOR-SENIOR PROM The annual Junior-Senior Prom was held Saturday, May 21. The banquet, held in the multi-purpose room, started at 6:30. Bill Kranzler of the Class of 61 welcomed the seniors with Bob Marttila respond¬ ing. After the banquet the group went to the gymnasium where they danced until midnight. The theme was ’’Moonglow, ” and music was provided by a combo organized by Malcolm Goddard, 1961 Microphone [High School Annual, Ellendale North Dakota] ’59- 60 SENIORS PRESENT THE UNGUIDED MISS ’ STANDING: Sharon Uecker, Bob Hattlested, Richard Houghton, Ben Crabtree, Mary Oxenrider. In the spring of 1960, the senior class, directed by Mina Onsrud, presented The Unguid¬ ed Miss by William Davidson. The play concerned a beautiful foreign exchange student, Lucia, who was suddenly brought into an American home filled with teenagers. Lucia lived with Madge and Clint Bryce, and their two daughters, Susan and Buzzie. George, Susan ' s boyfriend, was building a jaguar in the Bryces garage. The play was fast mov¬ ing and full of hilarious compli¬ cations. When the play ended, the parents had regained their faith in the American teenager. The junior class presented their annual play, Spring Night, a comedy in three acts by Anne Coulter Martens, on Tuesday evening, November 22, in the high school auditorium. The plot revolved around Nancy Hollister, played by Joyce Ginsbach, and Stephen Karaladis, played by Gordon Morehead. Both are high school stu¬ dents. Nancy is the most popular girl in school and is elected prom queen. Stephen does janitor work to pay his way and spends his spare time playing the piano. He has hopes of becoming a concert artist. Bruce, the most popular boy in school, dates Nancy, but now she is interested in Stephen. The girls in school rid icule Stephen because he doesn’t have good clothes and must do janitor work. In the end Stephen won Nancy, in spite of the taunts of their classmates.
