A few of the Sophomores look bewildered during the festivities of the annual initiation. This is one of the new subjects added to the curriculum. School In Top 10 percent In State In 1959 Ellendale High School was rated among the top 10% of schools in the state. This is a rating of all of the classes together. Ellendale High raised its rating by at¬ tempting to change its system. The system has add many new subjects thus widening its fields; among these are: shorthand, psychology, and physiology. It has many outstanding extra-curricular activities. Some special events that took place during the year were the fourth an¬ nual Cardinal Day; Halloween party; all-school Christmas choral concert; the KELOE band, play, choral, and speech activities; a musical; spring concerts and all of the sports activities, also the annual N-I Music Contest, which takes place in the spring. Dale Edwards during the initiation pleased with the success he is having program. He looks as if he is with his hula-hoop. At left. Ray Kaiser seems to be displaying his singing abilities. Dick Jury and Joel Traphagen are doing their practice work He is singing a song to Judy Nicholson. on the newly added IBM electric typewriters. Darrell Fil¬ bert is doing his work on the conventional typewriters.
