On September 6, 19U9 , forty- two green freshman entered through the Junior High doors to begin their first year of high school. At the first class meeting, they elected Gary Edwards, president; Bell Nelson, vice-president; Evelyn Fleming, secretary; Norman Stahlecker, treasurer. They chose Marilyn Hagel and Joanne Retzlaff as cheerleaders and Jean Bobler and Wayne Cherney as reporters for the class. Mr. Shelver was named class adviser. At the close of the first semester Gary Edwards and Dell Nelson re- signed. The class then chose James Billey, president, and Luella Hall, vice- president, to fill these vacancies. The freshmen began their new school year with a Junior High party in October which consisted of games, dancing, and refreshments. They later had a freshman party. They gave eighteen dollars to the Crippled Children ' s Home at Jamestown at Christman time instead of exchanging names. The freshman class of ' 50 were always willing and able to do their share in school activities. 1950 Ellendale High School Yearbook -Coleman Museum 2017
