Through her untiring efforts many Ellendale High School students have lost their “stage fright” and gained poise and self- confidence. To her goes the credit for a very eventful and successful year in speech and dramatics. SENIOR GIRLS’ SPEECH PROGRAM The annual Senior Girls’ Speech Program was held on Wednesday, October 10, at 8:00 p. m., in the High School auditorium. R. Retiring of Colors All PLAY FESTIVAL The eleventh annual one-act play festival was held Friday evening, March 22, at Edgeley. Participating were students from LaMoure, Edgeley, Oakes, and Ellendale. The local High presented a drama this year, “Confessional” by Percival Wilde. Members of the cast were Warren Merrick as Robert Baldwin, Christine Nelson as Martha Baldwin, Barton Slemmons as John Gresham Baldwin, Kathryn Lynde as Evie Baldwin, Royal Bernston as Marshall, and Rosemary Davis as the Maid. SPEECH FESTIVAL The Speech Festival, sponsored by the Dick- ey-LaMoure Activities Association, was held at Oakes Wednesday evening, March 8, in the High School auditorium. The following constituted the Ellendale contribution: Verse interpretation - “Plain Language from Truthful James” (Bret Harte) Donald Porter; Original Speech - “This new American” - Ger- ald Hill; The Limerick - Shirley McGannon; Verse Interpretation - “Lady Clare” by Alfred Tennyson - Delores Green. ASSEMBLY PROGRAM An Assembly program Thursday, March 28, provided the Junior and Senior High with some good laughs. The following short plays were presented: “Big Business” with the following cast - Mr. William Ufford, a very young attorney - Rob- ert Peterson; Miss Duboise, his secretary - Dorothy Fradet; Henry Parker - Gerald Nel- son. “Just A Love Nest” was given with this cast: Jens, a deaf janitor - Oswald Barsten; Mrs. Newbright, a bride - Nina Zinter; A Little Boy - Rodney Hermansen.
