During the football and basketball season. the band has greatly added to the enjoyment of the sport fans by its snappy appearance and peppy music. Although the band is losing seven seniors, we will have an excellent band next year. The seniors leaving this year are Ivan Benderwald, Lois Coleman, Eunice DuRand, Ilene Fuller, Doris Gee, Kenneth Isaak, and Inga Martin. There are 59 members in the combined bands. The membership of the Senior Band is 34 and the Junior Band, 25. Johnson played trombone in the band and the high school orchestra. A very talented player, he took music seriously and would have been a success in the musical world. It is with regret that we have to continue our activities with- out him. As in the past several years the efforts of the band culminated in the annual band festival which was this year held at LaMoure. Mr. J. A. Holvik had again been invited as guest conductor. The follow- ing program was presented : Presentation of Colors LaMoure Scouts America Panella March of the Champions Huffer American Youth Overture Pettee Chapel Shrine — Reverie Leoni March of Youth Olivadoti Cheerio — March Goldman Intermission Officer of the Day Hall Do nkey Serenade Friml Trombones on Parade Taylor Skaters ' Waltz Chenette United We Stand Hayes Retirement of Colors Boy Scouts All band members regret that Mr. Ackert will not continue to direct the E. H. S. band next year. He does not plan to return as a teacher because he expects to be drafted or he will enter some type of defense work.
