Presented By The Yearbook Staff Mr. Norman Kavanaugh, you arrived this year at Ellenburg Central determined to do well as our new District Principal, and ready to sacrifice time and effort to gain improvements. You have always been willing to assist us through difficult times as well as to enjoy happy experiences with us. Because of your friendliness to everyone, you will long remain a part of our memories. For these reasons we are proud to dedicate this 1970 Golden Eagle to you. YEARBOOK STAFF 2 APPRECIATION Mrs. Franklin and Mr. Bilow: Throughout our high school years, you have devoted your time and efforts to our class. Through the years your friendship and guid- ance have been inspiring. We, the Seniors of 1970, appreciate your patience and consideration shown to us in the past years in a profes- sional capacity and your helpful understanding as a friend. Therefore, Mrs. Franklin and Mr. Bilow, all your efforts are not forgotten. In this way we hope we have shown our apprecia- tion. Thank you. FORDYCE CARLSON PRINCIPA L ’S MESSA GE Dear Seniors: As you take leave from the school that has been your educational home for the past 12 years, I would like to share with you a few reflections. First, it is my hope that during these years which you have spent in an educational setting, that you have developed a deep and abiding love for your fellowman. A love that encompasses the virtues of understanding, empathy, and self-sacrifice. A love that reaches out to uphold the dignity of all mankind. Second, it is my further hope that you have acquired a body of knowledge along with a basic desire for learning, in order that you may successfully cope with the many diversified roles that will be thrust upon you in the years ahead. Lastly, please take with you this thought, that with the exception of only the members of your family, the people who have been most interested in each of you as individuals have been your teachers. We are very proud of your many accomplishments. And when you depart in June, many of us will be reminded of that line of John Donne's which paraphascd might read, Do not ask for whom the school bell tolls, it tolls for thee. I extend to the Class of 1970 my best wishes for every success and happiness in the years to come. Sincerely, Norman V.
