Hlllbllly Wecldm' ' Paw' Ya wouldn t ax me t take a bath' An comb ma hair? No Pay Sounds a little like murder is about to be committed doesn t Lt? Well it s really only part of the Senior play Hillbilly Weddin which was given November Z1 1952 at E H S by the Semor Class and under the dlrection of Mr Sweet Paw Belsnickle John Beckley is a man with a problem Rather SIX problems in the form of six unmarried daughters Juney Low Julle O Brien is a pretty girl who wants to marry Homer Upschlager Since he wants to marry her at first ghmpse the solution may seem simple But no' Maw Belsnickle Eleanor Martin has decided Juney Low cannot be married until Ceelie Sandy Baker a ripe old nineteen and Bonnie Mae Grace Scribner the bookworm are safely married off She elects Paw to get husbands for them Paw takes his shotgun off the wall with a very simple method of pro curing the necessary husbands in mind He decides to wing them pick out the buckshot and have them married to his daughters before they know what has happened Bonnie Mae however declares that method is out of style and balks at the entire tdea of getting married Ceelie IS far more interested tn her pet rattlesnakes than a husband but she is perfectly willing to get married She is in fact willmg to do anything but take a bath In the midst of Paw s husband chasing Ronald Maxwell Ron Henderer a medical student and his They are touring through the hills and their car has broken down Temporarily they seek shelter at the cabm Both Ceelie and Bonnie Mae are attracted to the handsome stranger Bonnie Mae keeps her adoration secret Ceelie however demands that Paw capture Ronald Maxwell for her She utterly refuses to marry anyone else That presents a major problem since Ceelie is the dirtiest home liest hlllbilly girl in the valley Paw gets his trusty gun but unfortunately misses Ronald Two neighbors Barry Bloom and Larry Emel who are Homer Upschlager s brothers Chiz and Obeey decides that the handsome stranger loose among the valley s most attractive girls is a menace they must do away with They deside to fake a feud to scare him away Maw won t allow Paw to take another shot at Ronald so he also decides to fake a feud and shoot a husband for Ceelie Both sides determine to use poor Ceelle as bait The feud becomes bigger than they expected and the younger daughters Four Five and Six fMary Alice Bunch Betty Gossel and Mamana Jones find it exciting and fun The Belsmckles cousins Josephine Mulkey David scott and Pete Inman came to pay a visit and Obeey Upschlager is caught ln the Belsnickle cabin whereupon Juney Lou and Ceelie disguise him as a girl Cousin Zeke Pete Inman falls in love with the so called girl which complicated things further for while Obeey has on Ceelies' dirty dress he begins scratching frantically which caused his pant legs to fall down The rattlesnakes escape in the cabin and Juney Lou bitten or pretends to be and Paw finally forces Ronald to the alter wtth Ceelie Just as the Reverend Ken Aoee is about to pronounce them man and wife Bonnie Mae and Obeey rescue Ronald Obeey lays down the law to Ceehe and they decide to get married Mrs Maxwell offers to finance a nursing education for Bonnie Mae and it all ends well with Maw sobbinu loudly as Ceelie and Obeey stand before the Reverend 35 ff 0 4 I g , I' I v ' ll' U. . . . f . , . . y f D' .
