In themr Semor ye r at Elkton I-hgh School Josephtne Mulkey rejotned them Eleanor Btnder IXI artxn and Larry Emel moved away durtno the last seme ster leavxnf fourteen Senxors tn thetr oraduattno class The offtcers were Donna M tdtson PYCS1dCDt Pete Inman Vtce Prestdent Sandy Baker Secretary John Beckley Treasurer Mr Grlmsrud was agatn thetr class advtsor Grace Scrtbner was carmval prtncess and queen wtth Pete Inman as her escort Ne trly all of the members of the class were actmve tn sports and made letters tn them Senlor Sneak The Sentor Class of 1953 started on that annual occaston the Sentor sneak M arch 77 1953 In the mornmg before daylwht they were to meet tn front of Rxndalls tn Elkton about 5 30 Ftnally everyone made tt by about 4 30 wtth Mr Grtmsrud the la t one there We started Oelt and our f1rst ston was Newport where we had chartered ftshtno boat for deep sea I1 h1nU Due to the we ather we were unable to Oo ftshtno but we were taken for a half hour r1de out over the bar We also had breakfast at Newport then left for Depoe Bay where we went throug h tn aquartum of all ktnds of sea antmals seals sea llons sea anemones ftsh and an octopus Our next stop w IS Ttllamook where we went through a large cheese factory on 1 nutded tour After our tour we had lunch at a drxve tn tn Ttllamook and were on our way to Portland on I-Itghway 6 We went through the Ttllomook Burn thounh not pretty anymore tt was a stght to see We arrtved 1n Portland and went to Mtlwaukee where we found the motel we were gotng to stay 1n that ntght It was Maynard s TV Motel whtch has Telev1s1on 1n some of the rooms After resttng from rmdlng we changed our clothes and took off for the Shrlne Cmrcus at the Ice Arent tn down town Portland It was a good show and Jerry Colonna was Master of Ceremontes The boys were hungry agatn as usual so we went to the Oyster I-lou e and had a sea food dtnner before gotng back to the motel Everyone was to settle down and oo to bed but dtdn t 'ttll after televtston went off at one o clock We awoke around 8 o clock and checked out of our motel to go and eat breal fast We found an Ital1an restaurant tn Portland and had breakfast there We then went through Lambert Gardens and rode through the Reed College campus Then we were headed to Salem the state capttal to eat lunch and for the boys ro im around The glrls and the chaperones though went through the capttol butldtnw and sat tn on the Senate where they were passtng b1lls The glrls cltmbed to the top of the dome of the capttol butldtng and took ptctures Then the g1rls rode out to the state penttenttary and the warden there wouldn t let us go through much to our dtsltke We went shopptnc back at Salem unttl ftve when we were to meet the boys tn the Hotel Senator We then he tded for Eugene to take tn a show We couldnt aoree on whtch one to no to so they all went to dmfferent shows throuohout Broadway tn Eugene We stayed to eat together at a c feterla style restaurant tn Eugene before gotno home.
