ELKTON STAGES ORTH DOUGLAS COUNTY PLAYDAY The Elkton Hlgh School glrls enterta1ned g1rls from North Douglas County 1U a playday held March l, at Elkton Hlgh School The playday was under the dlrectlon of Mn Mayme LaVoy, g1rl's physlcal educatlon lnstructor at Elkton There were 118 glrls and coaches represented from the fol lowlng schools Gllde, Draln, Yoncalla, Gakland and Rlddle R1ddle is 1n the southern dlstrlct, but the glrls werevenr happy to have them present Reglstration was held t eleven o'clock, followed by a general assembly 1n the gymnaslum Howard E Parks, PP1DCl pal of Elkton Hlgh School, gave a few words of welcome to the girls and told them the school was thelrs for the day Group s1ng1ng of Ir1sh songs was led by Joan Alldrldge, ao- companled by MISS Margaret Burger,Engl1sh lnstructor of Elk ton The noon lunch was served by the school hot lunch pro gram, w1th Mrs Fred Rlley 1h charge dances, baton tw1rl1ng, tumbllng, rope sklpplng demonstra tlons, school songs and yells Some very fine demonstra tlons were glven by the d1fferent schools From two to three o'clock the glrls partlclpated 1n folk dances A softball game under the supervlslon of M183 Schuman and Mrs Eckersly, coaches from Gllde and Yoncalla, was played with composlte teams of girls from the dlfferent schools A rest perlod was glven the g1rls from I4 30 to 5 OO At 6 no a volleyball game was played wlth Mrs Tuck of Draln, SUPGPVI Slng the girls At 7 30 a basketball game was played with H183 Schuman of Gllde, ln charge A tumbl1ng exhxbition was given by the Elkton glrls between the two games The coaches were pleased Wlth the response to the Wm1x ern type of playday, as there is not better means of gett1ng girls together and shar1ng actmvitles and frlendshlps that sometimes are of long duration The afternoon program opened with drills, stunts, tap-
